Fan Selection and Static Pressure

A simple tip for fan selection is based on static pressure readings. If you install a system and are not successful at reducing the levels to below 4pCi/l evaluate based on what your u-tube is reading. If the vacuum is 1.75 inches w.g.for example, go to your fan selection guide and see which fan moves the most air at 1.75 inches w.g.. At this vacuum reading an Eagle moves 83cfm, a Legend moves 110cfm, and a Fury moves 178cfm. If choosing between an Eagle and a Legend the Legend would be the better choice. If you are still a significant way from below 4pCi/l or haven't had a substantial reduction with your initial system the Fury would be the best choice. A general rule of thumb is the more air you are moving beneath the slab the stronger your pressure field and the greater your pressure field extension. This is not a perfect rule but is a great starting point in solving your Radon problems and learning more about fan application
